ABOUT

Carl M. Waxman, O.D., is thrilled to join the Levin Eye Care team as an optometrist. He brings 38+ years of experience as a Doctor of Optometry.

He attended the University of Maryland- College Park as an undergrad until 1974 when he obtained early acceptance to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from P.C.O. in 1975 and his Doctor of Optometry in 1978. He participated in clinical internships at the Kimbrough Army Hospital-Fort Meade, clinics associated with P.C.O., and several private O.D.s.

Upon graduation from P.C.O., he worked as a staff optometrist at the Katzen Eye Group with privileges at Mercy Hospital. He was a staff optometrist at the Bon Secours Hospital Eye Clinic between 1979 to2001. In 1981, he became an optometrist at Penn Optical until 2001. He was the Chief of Optometry at the Washington Village Medical Center from 1991 to 1995.

In 2001, he became an independent optometrist with Cole Vision which became Luxottica located in Sears Optical. He was a member of the Optometric Advisory Council for Luxottica for over five years. In 2003, he was awarded the Cole Vision Clinical Excellence Award.

In his 38 years of optometric practice, he has specialized in comprehensive eye care, including the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, fitting of contact lenses, pediatric vision care, glaucoma co-management, pre and post-management of cataract surgery and refractive surgery (PRK and LASIK).

He is a member of the American, Maryland, Greater Baltimore, and Anne Arundel County Optometric Associations.

In his spare time, he enjoys road biking, scuba diving, nature photography, and travel.
